White wine, in perspective
Aromatic freshness, citrus and green-fruit notes. These are tasting signposts, not a description of every bottle.
Grown locally and frequently partnered with Semillon. Regional or vineyard source.
What to ask at a tasting
Compare a single-variety bottle with a Sauvignon Blanc–Semillon blend. Ask whether fermentation or maturation involved oak: the grape name alone does not tell you how light or textured the result will be.
Choosing a bottle for the table
For a bright first tasting, ask for an unoaked example. Fresh herbs, vegetables and seafood are useful food starting points. Check sweetness with the producer rather than assuming an intensely fruity aroma means a sweet wine.
These are our pairing suggestions, not fixed rules. Vintage, winemaking and your own preferences matter.
