Red wine, in perspective

Blackcurrant, leafy detail and a firm tannin structure. These are tasting signposts, not a description of every bottle.

One of the region’s signature grapes, also used in blends with other red varieties. Regional or vineyard source.

What to ask at a tasting

Ask to compare a Cabernet-led blend with a varietal Cabernet. Notice whether the finish feels drying, supple or grippy: this is different from how fruity the wine tastes. A young release and an older bottle can make a particularly useful comparison.

Choosing a bottle for the table

If you want a structured red for a meal, start here. Consider roast lamb, mushrooms or lentils with deeply savoury flavours. Ask the winery about the specific vintage before choosing a bottle to cellar.

These are our pairing suggestions, not fixed rules. Vintage, winemaking and your own preferences matter.
